With EDITION hotels always localising to the city they’re in – be it Miami, London, Shanghai, or Abu Dhabi – no two EDITION hotels are the same. In a nod to the UAE’s maritime traditions, the façade of the Abu Dhabi EDITION is inspired by the sails on traditional dhow boats. The interiors follow a sophisticated, neutral palette, with calming colours, rich accents and numerous planters creating a serene space for a perfect escape. Even the perfume in the air is a proprietary blend created especially for the EDITION by Parisian perfumiers Le Labo, with notes of black tea and bergamot tantalising your senses.
Each elegantly designed room is wood-panelled with herringbone timber floors. The balconies open to views of the marina while the bathrooms ooze maximum comfort paired with luxury, with pearly off-white marble and standalone tubs, custom Le Labo toiletries and thick bathrobes.

With a number of Michelin stars under his restaurants’ belts, Tom Aikens consults on the menu at the Alba Terrace, one of three concepts he overlooks at the hotel. Natural light streams into this all-day dining space and is the perfect spot to enjoy a full breakfast, sharing plates, or just grab a cup of coffee. Order the tray baked sea bream with crispy skin and confit tomatoes, the soft-as-cloud focaccia with pickled balsamic onions and the dreamy Sicilian lemon cheesecake with sour cream ice cream.
Another of Aikens’ charges is Market at The Abu Dhabi Edition, which is hosting a classic buffet-style iftar with a few contemporary touches for the month of Ramadan. Aikens has collaborated with local chef Mohamad Orfali to create off-menu dishes exclusively for this month-long affair. The stars are a juicy chicken breast with za’atar served over spicy bulghur wheat and slow-roasted baby carrots with smoky muhammara. Dinner is soon followed by a sampling of ice creams curated by the two chefs – challenging tradition with bold new flavour combinations.
Speaking of the collaboration, Orfali says: “Tom and I have many things in common when it comes to cooking – we are both packed with innovative ideas and that is why we have perfect synergy.”

The Abu Dhabi Edition is just a short drive away from the Corniche which is an 8km-long stretch of manicured waterfront that houses several restaurants, cafés and children’s play areas as well as the Corniche Beach. The beautiful Qasr Al Watan Palace is nearby, where visitors can discover more about the nation’s past, present and future plans through a grand light and sound show. The palace is also home to the Qasr Al Watan Library, which has an impressive collection of 50,000 texts and 16 million digital documents.
