The positive effect: Milk and its by-product, the protein casein, are known for their nourishing properties. Lactic acid is also an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) – an ingredient found in most beauty products – and is ideal for rejuvenation and softening.
The pull: Sign up for this 75-minute body scrub, body wrap and massage session and you’ll emerge feeling like the Egyptian queen who inspired it. This experience is even more elevated than hers, as they’ve swapped in Swiss milk and teamed casein with a blend of three clays for the wrap.

The place: The Six Senses Spa Dubai at the Renaissance Downtown Hotel is a stunning space. There are six treatment suites, each taking you on a different sensory journey: touch (which comes with its own floatation pod), taste, sound, sight, smell – and the additional, ephemeral ‘beyond’.
The positive effect: Dr Burgener products are used during this 90-minute session; the combination of salt crystals gleaned from the Swiss Alps and a sweet almond oil will make your skin super soft and banish any dead cells.
The pull: You have your whole experience in the privacy of a spacious suite. We obviously recommend the Taste option which includes an alchemy bar which shows off ingredients and lets you pick the flavours you want to use in your treatment. The herb-infused steam power shower is a real treat at the end.

The place: The first Guerlain Spa in the Middle East is a big draw at the One&Only The Palm. In keeping with the rest of this luxury resort, the spa is a modern oasis with carved archways, water features, floral displays and beautifully landscaped courtyards.
The positive effect: Guerlain is known for harnessing the power of nature when it comes to formulations. This particular treatment utilises the brand’s Abeille Royale range that taps into the anti-ageing and skin illuminating benefits of a rare black bee honey found on Ouessant island.
The pull: You’ll feel like a complete skin reconstruction is on the cards thanks to the Abeille Royale serum and the cataplasm mask – which was actually inspired by historical honey wound dressings. This 1½-hour treatment also preps with microdermabrasion and massage.

The place: Keep your camera handy as you get incredible views of Downtown Dubai from The Spa at The Address Dubai Mall. Calming colours and a minimalist décor makes it ideal to relax in.
The positive effect: If you’re looking for quintessentially Arabesque ingredients, like dates and camel milk, then this is the spa for you. The latter is high in AHAs which works as an exfoliator, plus it contains moisturising lanolin and three times as much collagen-activating vitamin C as cow’s milk.
The pull: Log out for over two hours as this journey combines three treatments into one package. A date and henna scrub is followed by the moisturising camel milk wrap and ends with a date-based facial.
