- To make the blackberry syrup, combine the blackberries, sugar, lemon juice, vanilla, thyme sprigs and water in a medium-sized pot. Place it over medium-low heat and cook, stirring, until the berries start to break down, for approximately 8 minutes.
- Stir until thickened and blend the mixture until smooth. Strain if desired. Refrigerate until completely cool.
- Distribute the syrup equally between four glasses, top with the crushed ice, a slice of lemon and a sprig of thyme. Pour the lemonade into the glasses and serve.
